3D Design: With and WITHOUT a Computer

The Art of Building a Desired Brand

Often, beadmakers fall into the trap of repeating the beads taught to them and originality can be tossed aside. Throughout this presentation you will learn how to begin thinking beyond the copied bead. What questions to ask in order to get the creative process flowing: Am I an artist or artisan? How can I change what I learned to make it my own creation? How different is my work from what I was taught in class: generic vs original. The end result is hopefully a signature bead. The presenter will show examples of her own work and discuss the experimental
process to ultimately achieving a good final result. www.susanhooddesigns.com

Over the past 20 years, this presenter has built a very successful career as an artist by literally “putting a bird on it.” See how he makes his detailed bird sculptures and where he draws his inspiration. Hear about his preference for borosilicate glass in his work and understand some of the differences between sculpting with soft glass vs. sculpting with borosilicate. Explore, through a video demonstration, some of the techniques that go into making smaller birds and their addition to a larger sculpture. This presentation will take you full circle as you will see many of the techniques used are really basic to beadmaking as well! www.andrewjacksonpollack.com

Strictly by accident, experience how our Special Guest Presenter started his journey from humble beginnings in discovering glass. Follow all of the twists and turns, hits and misses, homemade “gadgets,” and tricks and tools. Learn the secrets of his improvising, just to make certain day-to-day things would work. Through heartfelt gratitude for the unbelievable opportunities in his life, hear the end result of his life’s journey, which has culminated in his strong desire to pay back the world in as many ways as possible.
