International Society of Glass Beadmakers

Opening Night Reception

Welcome to the 2019 Gathering in Las Vegas celebration. This special evening is the time to mingle, renew old
acquaintances, meet new friends, and enjoy a fantastic dessert reception, cash bar, and more.

This year, you can once again support the Beads of Courage program. The Beads of Courage mission is to
provide innovative, arts-in-medicine supportive care programs for children coping with serious illness, their
families, and the health care providers who care for them. They work diligently to transform the treatment
experience for children coping with chronic, life-threatening illness through their programs. In the 11 years since
the program’s inception, the organization has established programs in over 240 children’s hospitals in the United
States, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

Bring beads to donate to the organization of any size or shape. The preferred hole size is 3/32” and larger, but
1/16” holes will be accepted. Do not use reduction glass, frits, powders, or enamels that leave a metallic surface
on the beads. The inside of the bead should be free of bead release and there should be no sharp corners, sharp
edges on the bead holes, cracks or protrusions that would easily break off, including hearts with long, delicate
tails. Beads must be fully kiln-annealed. Please remember that these beads are worn and handled by children
and should be sturdy enough to stand up to wear and tear.

This evening is about celebrating our organization, friends coming together, supporting Beads of Courage, and,
of course, having fun. Don’t miss this great kickoff to the conference!
